Today must be the day for anecdotes, while taking a short break for coffee another lead engineer told me a great anecdote I hadn't heard before.

The CEO and Lead Engineer

One day the CEO of a growing company walked into the lead engineer's office and said, "you have been working really hard for a while, take a break and come with me."

The CEO took the Engineer to the parking area, and they climbed into his car. He drove to the edge of the city where a very beautiful open acreage property was for sale. They parked and got out of the car. The CEO walked a bit into the property where there was an amazing view of the town.

"Isn't this a wonderful property?" the CEO said. Pointing at a spot he asked "Can you imagine a nice house right here?"

The Engineer looked around and his imagination began to put things into place. "Yes I can," he answered.

Sweeping his hand and pointing to another spot the CEO said, "there could be a nice old style drive way up to there, with large 5 car garage, and a few really great cars. Do you like cars?"

The Engineer, getting into the discussion responded, "Oh yes, that would be great. I love cars, maybe a BMW and a hobby car." Pointing a bit off in another direction he added, "over there would make a great location for a pool. The sun would be nice all day and there would be a great view of the night lights in the evening."

Smiling the CEO nodded in agreement. "Your right, excellent plan." Then with slap on the back he added, "yes indeed, keep working as hard as you have been and in a couple of years this will all be mine."
